Who are the Salesians?

The Salesians are a religious order founded by Saint John Bosco in the 1850s. The UK Salesians are part of that international community of consecrated religious, both brothers and priests, founded by Saint John Bosco. The mission of the Salesians is to evangelise and educate young people, especially those who are poor and at risk, in the style of Don Bosco.

The educational method based on the preventive system is to educate and provide opportunities for young people – especially the poorest and most at-risk – to help them become upright-contributing members of society; people of good faith and values.

The Salesians work in 134 countries, catering to young people in schools, colleges, universities, oratories, youth centres, parishes and many more different settings.
