Meet Thornleigh's Student Leadership Team!
Thornleigh is proud to have a Student Leadership team!
Head Student
“My name is Jayden and I am Head Student of Thornleigh. My main role is to get students’ ideas across to Senior Members of staff and to make a change. Being Head Student also involves knowing that students know that I’m not just a name but I am someone that they can come and talk to. I am excited to take on this responsibility.”
Deputy Head Students
“My name is Isobel and I am the Deputy Head Student focussing on the classroom. My role consists of all things in relation to subjects, lessons and learning, an area that suits me due to my love for learning.
An example of what I do in this role is the following, if there was something that could be changed to improve the learning environment here at Thornleigh, students could either come to me directly or one of the subject specific leadership teams who would pass the information onto me. Along with the year captains I would then discuss the idea and create a plan as to how we would go about bringing it to fruition. I would then take it further to either Mr Kirk directly or pass it on to Jayden.”
“Hi I am Corey and I am the Deputy Head Student for outside the classroom, alongside Jayden and Isobel. My responsibility is to lead the Year captains and ensure that school life outside of the classroom is truly a safe space for all to flourish. I am also involved in the wellbeing groups and believe that mental health needs to be a focus for us. I will also be leading on charity and rewards. I am very excited to make an impact in my role.
We understand it can be difficult trying to find one of us within the school, so email us at studentleadership@thornleigh.bolton.sch.uk. This means if anybody does have any ideas, questions or information they want to be brought to our attention then all they have to do is send an email. We will regularly look at the emails that come through so whatever the ideas/thoughts are we will do our very best to make sure we deal with it appropriately.”
Leadership Groups
We are so excited that to have so many leadership groups this year:
Dance, Language Leaders, Global Leaders, Inclusion and wellbeing, Art Leaders, Science leadership, Drama Leadership Group, Food technology, RUAH Leaders, History Leaders, Duke of Edinburgh and Epraise Leaders.
These leadership groups will be leading in many diverse ways within the school community, for example to participate in leading small sessions within extra-curricular activities as well as being role models for the expectations of students outside of school. We work as a team to promote extracurricular activities, fundraising for the school show and planning for trips. We establish film club, write articles for the newsletter etc. Watch this space for how these groups progress….
